I've decided to put getting a Starcraft 2 strategy guide into three easy to follow steps.
The first step is knowing which top strategy guides are available right now on the market.
The three top Starcraft 2 strategy guides right now are the Star2Pros guide, the StrategyMasters guide, and now the guide which I believe is called Shockz.
These guides are all excellent resources put together by intelligent people.
They all offer different features for your money. For instance StrategyMasters guide offers a forum and Star2Pros does not.
The second step is knowing which one fits your needs the most. Some of them are geared towards beginners while others are geared towards experienced players.
It is hard for one guide to cover all ends of the spectrum. So you want to pick the guide that matches your level the closest to see the most improvement in the long run.
So find a review page, also remember that all of the guides offer a 60 day refund if your not satisfied. So even if you make the wrong choice you can re-invest or keep your money.
The last step is purchasing the guide and implementing it. Use it in your play. Go back to it over and over.
I don't want to see anyone spend the money on a guide they aren't getting the most out of.
The guides aren't expensive but their not cheap either. Plus expense is relative to whoever is making the purchase.
My point of these three steps is to do your research as much as you can before you make the decision to get a Starcraft 2 strategy guide.
Look I've been down that road where I needed to pick a Starcraft 2 strategy guide too. I wanted to beat my friends, I wanted to be a Diamond level player and I wanted to do it fast. I purchased all of the guides, I went through all of them! Then for the sake of sharing what I know, I went ahead and reviewed them all.

Want To Know What Happened In The Latest Patch?

Let me sum it up for you.

Ultralisks and Corrupters are getting better! Zerg definately needed this. Spore crawlers are getting weaker, not sure this was needed but not a problem. Infestors can now take over air units! Say goodbye to Void Ray rushes, well at least now we can tech a bit more safely :).

Terran took a bit of a hit verses Zerg, but still a minor one. Siege Tanks got a bit tougher, which I like, since I love Siege Tanks! Thor now needs to upgrade its anti air attack, which I like.

Protoss anti air got a little stronger, Phoenix's being able to attack while moving is a nice upgrade. Blizzard acknowledges that Protoss still need a boost against Terran.

Blizzard also hinted that they were going to do something fun with the Ultralisk in the next patch. Brood Lords are a bit weaker for all you Zerg players, but still scary. Corrupters ability got re-worked, it can now target only units and make attacks against them more effective. Corrupters also move faster. This is just fantastic, Corrupters now fit into the Zerg army much better.

Starcraft 2 Macro Guide

I'd like to take a few minutes to discuss macro in Starcraft 2.

Macro is quite simply just managing your global economy, producing buildings, units, and upgrades.

Building workers, fighter units to counter the opponent, defensive structures, building placement, building expansions, and many others.

When your not fighting, most of the time macro is what your putting your energy into.

It is also important to understand that even in fights you need to keep your macro going. This is when macro is the most important, it shows the opponent how you'll rebound after a fight.

The key to macro is having good hotkeys.

In Starcraft 2, hot keys or hotkey are the numbers, 1 through 9. What you do, is you can link a group of units, or buildings, or anything. You simply select the units or buildings you want, hold control, and click a number one through nine.

After you do this, you can click the number and it will take you to your group of units or structures. If you click them twice, it will center you to where those units and structures are.

Another handy tip, clicking space car takes you to wherever the action is. This could be a building being completed, an attack, an upgrade...

Learning how to use these will very dramatically reduce the amount of time it makes you to build units.

It is much easier to click the number one, which will select your barracks. Then, you could click A to produce marines, and by right clicking on the map with the building selected the marines will run into the fight, or wherever.

You don't need to lose sight of the battle while fighting!

How Do You Know Which Race Is Right For You?

When initially picking a race, you don't know which one you'll like better, so think about it something like this.

Zerg - Zerg Hatcheries, Overlords, and Queens can produce creep for you, which is sort of a muck that discolors the ground. Since Zerg have to build on this creep, and thier is a limited amount, Zerg buildings are placed closed to eachother, and away from strategic points on the map.

Do you like living units that heal over time?

This means if your Zerg prepare for a lot of action to take place in and around your base, which will grow very quickly!

Terran - Do you like sealing yourself away from attacks? How about having the ability to quickly switch gears from one tech tree to the next? Do you like hit and run missions, and robotic units?

Protoss - Do you like having the strongest units, but not a lot of them? Do you like being shielded? Do you like having to build around Pylons?

For someone new to the game, you may want to play vs AI for awhile and go random. This means you'll get a feel for all the race's playstyles, and you'll find yourself gravitating towards one or none.

I think this is the best way to know which race is right for you in Starcraft 2.

Starcraft 2 Strategies! Immediate Second Post!

I'd like to ramble on a little further if you don't mind.

Zerg are awesome, I've heard they are overpowered in the Korean beta and underpowered in the US beta, which is a very interesting fact!

Protoss are powerful with plenty of new gadgets, and Zealots being able to charge always makes me smile!

Terran are strong as heck, supply depots can go up and down so Terran can seal off any entrance. You try attacking an entrance up a cliff, where units you can't see are raining bullets on you. Not to mention siege tanks battering your ground troops to death in seconds.

I have made a great Starcraft 2 Strategy Guide lens. This lens gives great direction, and covers the importance of territory. It goes over general strategies, and where a beginning SC2 player should start.

I'm going to cover random Starcraft 2 topics in this blog, just my ramblings about the game and the state it is currently in.

I'm not sure the details of the whole don't talk about the Beta thing, but with replays all over the place most of this is common knowledge to SC2 players anyway.

Later I'll also do a blog post no the detailed differences between the races in SC1 to SC2, their are plenty!
